The team behind an award-winning gin school and distillery set to expand into Leeds this winter, will be offering Christmas shoppers the chance to sample and buy their range of gins in County Arcade throughout November and December.
Currently based in Hull, Hotham’s Ltd are opening Hotham’s Gin School and Distillery Bar in Eastgate, Leeds, in December, and will offer gin-loving guests the chance to learn all about gin, and to distil their very own full-sized bottle of handcrafted gin. Whilst the new venue is fitted out as the city’s premier destination for gin lovers, Hotham’s will be showcasing their spirits and Gin School packages at their pop-up stall in Leeds’ County Arcade.
Co-founders Emma Kinton and Simon Pownall said, “Hotham’s Gin is a premium spirit distilled in small batches using traditional methods - we’re very proud that every bottle we produce receives our individual attention. When we say that our products are handcrafted, we mean it, from weighing out botanicals, through distillation and bottling, right through to wax-dipping and numbering every bottle before it leaves our distillery.”
Simon, a former pupil of Cookridge Primary School, said that he was looking forward to the prospect of being back in Leeds and debuting Hotham’s award-winning gin in the heart of the city: “We’re excited to be bringing our spirits to a new audience in Leeds. We think that visitors to the Victoria Quarter will enjoy trying our artisan spirits, and will be as excited as we are about the opening of our Gin School and Distillery Bar - if you love gin, you’re going to love what we’re bringing to the city.”
Hotham’s Ltd has won an array of prestigious awards since their opening in July 2018, including ‘Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Award’ for ‘Remarkable Food Experience 2019’; the Garbutt + Elliott ‘Taste of Yorkshire Award’ and more recently, a Silver Medal in the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2019 for Hotham’s Cardamom Gin. They are also four times finalists for the coveted White Rose Awards, celebrating the very best of Yorkshire tourism, which will be announced in Leeds on 25th November.
